Pokolbin is such a beautiful place and home to many wineries, cheese shops, gardens, restaurants and  it has its own zoo.  It is only about 2 hours from Sydney so it is the perfect place for a weekend away.

Things to See and Do

Wine Tasting

There are more than 150 vineyards stretching from Cessnock in the south to the New England Highway in the north.

I always use the Wine country website to get an idea of where I would like to go or stay. So click on the link for more information.

Hunter Valley Gardens
If you haven't been to the Hunter Valley gardens and you're a garden lover, you need to put this on your to do list. The gardens are easy to get to they are located on Broke Road, Pokolbin. The gardens spread across 60 acres (24 hectares) which include beautiful the Sunken Garden, the Storybook Garden, the Rose Garden, the Oriental Garden, the Lakes Walk, the Italian Grotto, the Indian Mosaic Garden, the Formal Garden, the Chinese Garden and an amazing Border Garden.

The Hunter Valley Gardens are open every day from 9.00 am - 5.00 pm.

Pokolbin Village

There is a great little shopping village across the road from the Hunter Valley Garden that has a wide range of specialty stores, dining and accommodation including a gourmet chocolate shop and if you like cheese I highly recommend the cheese shop there.

I highly recommend doing a wine tour so you can relax and let someone else do all the driving while you get to relax and enjoy the local wines.

My favourite Winery

I absolutely love the wines at Audrey Wilkinson and the views are breathtaking ...
