Oh where to next ?
Blue Mountains
The Blue Mountains has some of the country’s most beautiful natural attractions and charming little villages,
There is so much to see and do here, you will want to stay the whole weekend.
The Blue Mountains has 20 suburbs but the locals like to call them villages.
Villages of the Blue Mountains are:
Bilpin, NSW
Emu Plains, NSW
Glenbrook, NSW
Hartley, NSW
Hazelbrook, NSW
Lawson, NSW
Oberon, NSW
Springwood, NSW
Woodford, NSW
Each village is different to the next so it is worth while visiting a few and enjoy what they have to offer. I have underlined the villages that open to more information.
The mountains are also know for their breath taking views which sweep over the deep valleys so make sure you bring your camera.
Most popular lookouts
Amazing lookouts that are not to common.
- Mount Banks Picnic Area
- Pierces Pass to Blue Gum Forest walking track.
Cafes.
The mountains has some of the best cafes and restaurants so make sure to stop at one of the lovely villages and try same local food.
One of my favourite.
- The Megalong Valley Tearooms have been serving up delicious refreshments since 1956. (This place is cash only)
Amazing Pies.
If you like pies as much as I do make sure you try.
- Mountain Pies on the Pacific Hwy at Wentworth Falls.
Caravan Parks with Ensuite
- Blackheath Glen Tourist Park
- Blue Mountains Tourist Park at Katoomba Falls
Nice place to camp
- Old Ford Reserve
Camping is allowed at Old Ford Reserve but it is a small area. The Old Road Reserve is a beautiful picturesque camping site and has a picnic area alongside Megalong Creek in the Megalong Valley. You can enter the Reserve by road.
Megalong Valley is mostly granite country road and the Valley has bird species that are not found on the cliff tops. Old Ford Reserve is about 8.3 kilometres along the Six Foot Track from Katoomba.
Old World experience.
- Mount Vic Flicks . Step back in time and watch a movie like its 1955.
Fun Places to visit.
- Bilpin springs orchard. (Open for fruit picking in May)
- Victory Theatre Antique Centre & Cafe
Best place to go horse riding.
- Euroka Blue Mountains Equestrian Centre
To get a good view of the Three Sisters visit Echo Point lookout. These three peaks are actually sandstone and are a kilometre above sea level. It is so hard to image that they formed thousands of years ago through erosion.
